What P0797 usually means
P0797 points to a pressure-control channel that appears stuck on through the PCS C path. Drivers usually feel that as very firm shifts, harsh engagement into drive or reverse, or a transmission that seems to default to maximum pressure for self-protection. The code can come from a stuck solenoid, shorted circuit, jammed regulator passage, or command logic problem that never lets pressure relax. Because pressure control is systemic, the symptoms often look harsher and wider than a single-shift complaint.
